Massage is a structured and systematic application of touch which promotes the healing process of the body, mind and spirit. Whether you know it or not, when you rub, squeeze or knead an ache or sore muscle you are instinctively performing a type of massage. Skin is the largest organ of the body and it responds to touch, which stimulates circulation and immediately impacts the flow of vital fluids. The healing benefits of touch have been proven in humans as well as animals. (see Equine Massage) With massage, the body is better able to absorb nutrients and fresh oxygenated blood while waste and toxins, such as lactic acid, are broken down and removed. Tight muscles receive fresh blood. Joints gain flexibility, pain is relieved and you can experience better range of motion in a short period of time, often within minutes.

HISTORY OF MASSAGE
Earliest documented records of massage date back as far as 2000 B. C. Hippocrates was the first Greek to describe medical massage and its benefits, but it crosses every culture and many religions.

The word massage has these roots:

Most cultures and/or religions have massage practices embedded into it.

HOW DOES MASSAGE WORK?
Simply, it moves vital fluids in the body. The skin is the largest organ in the body and it responds to touch. The touch creates a rhythmic response which immediately impacts the flow of fluids such as blood, lymph, hormones, chemicals and other type of elements. It also affects nerve responses that can change existing patterns. By increasing vital fluids through circulation, the body is able to bring in nutrients and fresh, oxygenated blood while removing toxins and waste. Tight muscles lose waste such as lactic acid. Joints have a better greater range of motion and become more flexible often within minutes. It is all about moving vital fluids.

RESULTS COUNT!
Massage compliments other medical healing modalities such as chiropractic, physical therapy, fitness program and spinal aid decompression and many more. Massage is often the icing on the cake! When you combine other healing modalities with massage, the results can often be spectacular!

Here is what Chic McM. of Randolph, N.J. had to say about his Gentle Touch experience.

“I arrived at Gentle Touch Massage with tension, stress and felt tight all over. When I leave, I am fully rejuvenated, reenergized with a smile. My stress and tension seem to melt away during the massage as the Pony Express Oil is applied. I recommend Theresa Mueller, NCTMB to all. My Light Touch Therapy experience bought me to a point of balance and corrected my “dis ease” and most of my daily aches & pains disappeared”

When you feel better, you do better; and after all... RESULTS COUNT!
