In the February update, we told you we had been accepted to attend the Equine Lymphedema Course held at the Hannover Medical/Veterinary School in Hannover, Germany. We completed this intense course on Sunday, March 30, 2008!

We are proud to announce that Paul and I were the first Americans to attend and are the first American Manual Lymphatic Equine Massage Therapists in the United States! We did our country proud and put America on the map as being a country that is open to treating equine lymphedema utilizing the Manual Lymph Drainage process of massage, wrappings and a manual lymph grooming technique.

The use of Equine Manual Lymphatic Drainage can be used as a prophylactic point of view for many common equine conditions. Take the Equine Lymphedema Quiz and raise your awareness on how this therapy may benefit your horse.

The Professor is the world’s leading subject matter expert on equine lymphatic system and continues to conduct research on humans and equines to better understand the similarities as well as their differences. He and his staff provided us guidance and feedback during this course as well as their research on the equine lymph system.


• Dr. Natalie Klages, Equine Surgeon, Warburg, Germany

Dr. Klages was our coordinator, English instructor, interpreter, tour guide and limo driver! We could not have done this without her!


• German physiotherapists, vets and other students who were excited to see “folks” from the “States” taking this course.

Gentle Touch Massage is committed to raising the awareness of this great therapy in the United States. Every Equine Clinic will include a section on the lymphatic system, benefits of Manual Lymph Drainage, as well as the Layman’s Manual Lymph Drainage Grooming Technique!
